Use the Diners Club Card to travel, and automatically receive a package of travel insurance coverages such as travel accident, excess lost baggage and primary rental car collision damage insurance at no additional cost.

Please refer to the Summary of Insurance Coverages provided with your Cardmember Welcome Kit for details of insurance benefits, including terms, conditions, limitations, exclusions, the schedule of benefits, exclusions, beneficiary designation procedures, and the claims procedure.

Primary Collision Damage Waiver Insurance

  • Receive primary coverage, anywhere in the world (except where prohibited by law), when the entire cost of a car rental is charged to a Diners Club Card.
  • The insurance covers physical damage and theft of the vehicle, reasonable loss of use charges, reasonable towing charges, and includes Secondary Personal Effects insurance
  • No maximum Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price.
  • To qualify, you must decline the rental agency's collision damage waiver (CDW), saving up to $16 per rental day.
  • Driver coverage up to $200,000, footnote 1
  • Passenger coverage up to $100,000 per person, to a maximum of $400,000 for all passengers combined, footnote 1
  • Total coverage limited to a maximum of $600,000 per accident, per vehicle, footnote 1
  • Rental period must not exceed 48 days

Travel Accident Insurance

  • Automatic coverage of up to $300,000 on common carriers.
  • Coverage applies every time the entire cost of an airline, train or other common carrier ticket is charged with your card.
  • Also applies to travel on frequent flyer or similar non-revenue tickets.
  • Coverage includes direct travel to and from the airport station or terminal on any public conveyance including buses, trains and hotel or car rental agency courtesy vans (private/rental cars excluded) — if the common carrier ticket has been purchased prior to departure for the station, terminal or airport.
  • Coverage applies for spouses and dependent children.

Flight Delay Coverage

In the case of an unforeseen flight delay of more than four hours for a covered reason, you will be reimbursed for reasonable meal and hotel accommodation expenses up to $500. To qualify for this coverage your airline ticket must be charged in full to your Diners Club Card.

Baggage Delay Coverage

Should the airline you're flying with causes a baggage delay of more than six hours at a destination other than your return city or place of residence or during the final leg of your trip, you will be reimbursed for the emergency purchase of necessary clothing and personal care items up to $500. To qualify for this coverage your airline ticket must be charged in full to your Diners Club Card.

Excess Lost or Stolen Baggage Coverage

Should your checked or carry-on luggage be lost, stolen or damaged, you will be reimbursed for a value of up to $1,000 that is not covered by any other insurance available to you. To qualify for this coverage your airline ticket must be charged in full to your Diners Club Card.

Purchase Assurance

Diners Club cardmembers can benefit from the security and safety offered through Purchase Assurance Coverage. If something you bought with your Diners Club Card is damaged or stolen within ninety (90) days of purchase, you may be eligible for benefits under this coverage. Extended Warranty Coverage

Extended Warranty doubles the original warranty time period and duplicates the coverage of the original manufacturer's (or Canada store brand) warranty up to a maximum of twelve (12) months on most items you purchase. For products with multiple warranty components, each warranty time period will be duplicated up to a maximum of twelve (12) months. Should you fail to properly register the original warranty as required by manufacturer, Extended Warranty will only double the actual warranty time period that you received from the manufacturer. Insurance coverages are underwritten by CUMIS General Insurance Company, a member of The Co-operators group of companies and administered by Allianz Global Assistance, which is a registered business name of AZGA Service Canada Inc. Allianz Global Assistance provides claims and travel assistance services on behalf of the underwriter. Insurance coverages apply when common carrier or airline tickets and car rentals are charged in full to your Card. Details of insurance benefits, including terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions are outlined in the Summary of Insurance Coverages provided with your Cardmember Welcome Kit. Car Rental Collision, Loss and Damage Insurance is available worldwide except where prohibited by local law or agency practice.

To file a claim:

To file a claim please contact Allianz Global Assistance at 1 8 6 6 5 2 0 8 8 4 1 (Toll Free) / 5 1 9 7 4 2 9 0 3 4 (Collect). A representative will forward the required claim form to you and provide you with any information you may need. All claims must be made within 90 days of the damage, loss, incident or commencement of any loss covered by these policies.
